Time Strategies

 1) How to Beat Procrastination - Carol Webb https://hbr.org/2016/07/how-to-beat-procrastination     This article had a lot of good strategies on how to approach procrastination. One thing mentioned in the article is telling people your plan of accomplishing something. This has been a great technique I've used to confront procrastination. I even text my friends my plan sometimes and it always helps me start my task. A new technique I will try from this article was described as removing the hidden blockage. I often almost start tasks multiple times throughout the day, just opening my computer and staring at the screen for hours. I have never asked myself why I would do that, and I'm sure I will learn more about myself if I do. 2) Four Questions to Help You Overcome Procrastination  https://lifehacker.com/four-questions-to-help-you-overcome-procrastination-     These questions were in some ways similar to the first article but gave a distinct system to help overcome procrastinati

I have learned about most browser tune-ups before but I have never tried the different websites mentioned. I am excited to learn new ways of utilizing different websites. The content sites look very interesting and I am excited to learn about different stories, and one website has audio that's awesome! I have never had a class this organized online and it is such a relief how easy it is to navigate through the class Wiki. A small thing I am excited for is designing my google site. I saw a lot of sites with the storybooks and even though it's not extremely important I am really excited for it! Techno Dog!

Assignments Review!

Image
After reading about the assignments for this class I am most excited for the chance of creative thinking. Usually I don't spend much time with this because I feel like I have other things I need to do so I'm excited for accountability with it in a way. The Storybook assignment looks like a very fun challenge (growth mindset woohoo!) that I feel will be very beneficial for me. I have never done something like it before so that does make me a little nervous, but still excited. Also, so many opportunities for extra credit in so many different ways to learn. I want to try the Wikipedia trails, it sounds like such a fun way to learn about a subject! Feeling: Excited!

Growth Mindset

Image
I have hear similar opinions to the "Growth Mindset" but I first learned about Carol Dweck and her opinions today. Her opinion that applauding students when things are easy can be detrimental to learning. It really does make students feel like things should be easy for them if they are smart, and that they are not performing well when things are not easy. I find myself with doubt when I am challenged on any type of schoolwork, and feel less worthy when it is not easy for me. When I first heard similar opinions to Carol Dweck, I started re-thinking the way I approach a challenge. For example, when I encounter something difficult I literally say out loud "you do not have to be perfect, you're still learning just keep trying." This may seem very silly but it has done wonders for my learning abilities. I will try my best not to get discouraged in classes this semester, I am a little overwhelmed that it is my last semester, I'm in 18hrs, I still have to find tim

Introduction to a dog lover without a plan

Image
I am a biology pre-med major and have recently decided that medical school is not the path I want to take. I stressed over not having a plan the entire first semester and missed a lot of opportunities in school, work, and experiences. I have finally realized that it is ok to not have a plan, especially in this point of my young life. There can be so much pressure on young people to have some sort of plan when in reality stressing over having a plan can distract people from enjoying all parts of life! Anyways, I am working on finding what I am passionate about and have realized I really enjoy wildlife, science, and making people happy. Another large part of my life was my dog Roxie, she passed away recently but she had a very long (18 yrs) and very happy life. I could always count on Roxie to make me feel better and to be trotting behind me everywhere I go. Her life story is pretty shocking because she went through so much but always came back stronger, so I will share some of her expe

Storybook Favorites

 1)  "Goddess of contagion" https://sites.google.com/view/epicwomen/home     I was instantly attracted to this storybook from the title, given the current times. Covid-19 is a contagion that has detrimentally affected the world recently so I knew it was one to read. This storybook did a fantastic job of creating a modern story relating to current events and relating it to a goddess many people are turning to for help during these times. The author had a cool way of turning small actions like leaving a mug into a greater part of the story, incredibly creative! This storybook also had very vibrant pictures of the goddess. 2) "Another Love Story" https://sites.google.com/view/anotherlove/ruru-falls-in-love     I'm a sucker for love, who isn't, so of course I came across "Another Love Story." This introduction was the best introduction I have read and gave just the perfect amount of information that made me wanna read it but didn't reveal anything.

Favorite Place

My favorite place is Cozumel, Mexico because of the beautiful life to observe underwater! I love to dive and this is the place to dive! I go with "Alex's Adventures" because Alex knows the best spots and best times to dive in those spots. The ability to breath underwater and be surrounded by so many different species of water-dwelling organisms is one of the most incredible things in life! This is an image of a reef in Cozumel, Mexico obtained from: https://www.girlsthatscuba.com/scuba-diving-in-cozumel/
